Paul Johnson interview

I wouldn't make the game about Collins by burning an effigy of him; but late in the game when it is obvious UNC is going to lose and we are death marching down the field with Collins defense on the field, I would love to hear the announcer announce "IT"S MONEYDOWN!" followed by "AND HERE"S ANOTHER MONEY DOWN".

I don't think we should give him the honor of thinking we care. But, I respect the fact that a lot of Tech fans disagree with me. I just hope we win the game.

There were more than a few on here that swore that our short underweight OL was the gospel truth and nothing could sway them. It was like they were in some cult or something. They convinced themselves that CPJ purposely recruited short underweight OL to run the triple option. There are still fonts on here that believe the CGC story that CPJ was a lazy recruiter that never visited high schools.
We did recruit smaller athletic lineman. Shaq mason was short; I think Parker Braun weighed 285. None of them were ever 6’1 260 though, much less an average of the bunch

We need CPJ to consult with us on a few plays out of the flexbone, specifically for UNC. I'd like to see Jamal Haynes, Anthony Carrie, and Malik all back there at once. Haynes King has the eyes for the reads.

The big thing would be live advice though. It was never the playbook, but CPJ making minor adjustments and calling plays, that really made it tick.

I'll add this: I never thought the 3O was boring either. It was probably *brutal* to watch your team try to defend it. But as a fan, it took a couple seasons before the lights came on and the way I saw the field changed, and it was brilliant to watch.

There were so many moving parts, and you could usually tell within 1.5 seconds of the snap that a touchdown was eminent even though the ball might still be behind the LoS. Watching those plays unfold with key blocks and misdirections was a whole other kind of fun compared to watching a deep throw that may or may not get caught for 50 yards. Those are all the same and don't unfold before your eyes like a time-lapse of a flower.

Only at Tackle. You’re correct that our All Pro lineman was short. We had plenty of 300 pound guards.

Crazy to hear how folks were scared to be around CPJ after Goof Collins hire
I haven't had the time yet to listen past the 15 minute mark. What was Key's "small ball comment"?

He was asked about Key and he basically said well .. key came with goof and he made the “we didn’t come here to play small ball comment” in his first presser. I remember Keys first presser. I did not take that as a shot at Paul.

We recruited the offensive linemen we could get. Shamire Devine I think was one of, it not the, biggest OL in the ACC, and I don't remember him being that athletic comparatively. It is like saying Brent Key only recruits small athletic Defensive Linemen.

Remember small centers (Bedford, finch) as well. The gaurds were typically the larger OL.

Bedford was part of the 2008 team who went from DL to Center. We were missing some parts along the OL in 2008. I think that is how David Brown got moved from DL to TE to RT in 2008 too. I remember Bedford's replacement at center being about 4" taller.

We need to burn an effigy of Collins when unc comes to town and let Paul strike the match.

I doubt Collins ever comes to Bobby Dodd with UNC. I think this will be Mack’s last season there and the next coach will clean house and definitely won’t want Collins to stay because UNC will actually pay for a legit coach who will know the deal.
Unfortunately with the new ACC, uncheat will not be coming to town until 2027. No way clown lasts that long. 3 ring circuses are only good for 3 years.

Was able to talk to Coach in Macon today prior to his induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame tonight. I told him that we missed him at Tech and thanked him for all of the memories he provided. He said thank you and that he appreciated hearing that. He told me that he felt Brent had the program going in the right direction now that they had gotten rid of the problem. :scared: :bowrofl:
But he really seemed happy and content in his retirement. Randy Rhino was also there today. Looks like him, Tony Barnhart, and GSU’s Adrian Petersen would be doing the induction for CPJ this evening.

Great pic, thanks for sharing!

I propose everyone who defended that Clown after the year one loss to The Citadel to jump in and eat their crow. This was after it was already public knowledge that he had trashed CPJ and his offense, then lost in OT to it. I caught a lot of backlash, as I recall, for saying "Fire him now." Maybe I'm just making stuff up, but I could name a few names.

Oh öööö, I totally forgot the T.O. on the winning play. The Minister of Mayhem strikes again....

How about you take your "look at me" post and go öööö yourself?

Even tho PJ was solely responsible for recruiting Tobias Oliver, iirc
