We have a new AD who understands Tech.

Give the man some time to take stock and decide what is best for our program.

I'm not convinced that CPJ has forgotten how to coach. Something is obviously not right but I'm not sure its Paul Johnson.

I was at the Pitt game and the players played their butts off and were obviously prepared for the game. We were an inch away from winning today. You don't fire a coach over a freaking inch.

When we show up and get curb stomped because the team is not prepared and/or not motivated to win then I'll be first in line with a pitchfork but that has not happened this season. And, no, Clemson doesn't count.

I was here for Curry's first two years. I was here for Ross' first two years. I was here for B*** freakin' L***. I was here for 51-7. I'm satisfied with a kick-ass year every 8 years because I think that is pretty much as good as anyone not named Alabama can have.

You guys want to ditch CPJ? Name one coach that we have a hope in hell of getting who is a better coach. UGa just fired a 10-win coach and replaced him with an 8-win coach.

Oh, and for all you Tom Herman groupies, he just lost to Navy because he could not prepare his team to defend the triple option. Maybe we can pick up Tom Herman after Houston fires him for losing to a team that runs our offense.

Anybody who pulls the plug on a coach because a circus tipped ball miraculously turned into an 80 yard TD reception and then our guy only pushed 35 inches instead of 36, doesn't deserve to be an AD.

Football is a variable sport. NC State beat Notre Dame in a floodplain today, as migratory fish swam around their ankles, for öööö's sake. Weird öööö happens.

Yeah, the hormonal nonsense going around these boards yesterday afternoon was a bit much.

It's a game of inches...and yes you do fire him for the bonehead play call running right at Pitt's mega-fat D-tackle.

I got an idea. We all know we're stuck with the ööööing asshole for awhile. How bout we get to call him a ööööing asshole for losing 12 out of the last 18 games we played? Or I become like every other douchebag Tech fan and stop expecting us to win so I'm pleasantly surprised when we do. Because hoping to win more than 5 games apparently means I'm expecting us to be a powerhouse. We are wake forest. I made my peace with it. I've been drunk since noon and I finally realized that's what it's going to take.

we have alot of pus**es in our fanbase. CPJ ain't going anywhere. Have these ppl seen how poor our athletic dept is?

You don't say

For years, most of the whiners have complained about the ACC not being as good as the other P5 conferences. Now that the ACC is moving up and playing some of the marquee games every weekend, the same people are complaining that we lost to some of the better conference teams. At the start of the year, most of us thought that Clemson, Miami, and @Pitt were all likely losses. The schedule looks a little friendlier from here on out, with only @VT looking like a probable loss, and a few likely wins against GASO, Duke, and UVa. UNC and the dwags could go either way. I'd rather finish strong than lose a string like this later in the season.

Well, the new AD "understands Tech." That means what? The last 4 ADs did not understand finances, academic restrictions, marketing, recruiting, anything?

I doubt, also, PJ has forgotten how to coach, but nine years is plenty of time. I also have often wondered where some people work where the head of a major division of the company is given this's much time and has failed this miserably against his main competition.

Firing a coach over a freaking inch? Wow, know of nobody saying anyone should be fired over this One game.

"Clemson doesn't count". Like hell. If true, Then we are the greatest team in America because um, puke, unc, vt, ugag don't count either. All that matters then is beating Tulane, Kansas (well, most of the time), Elon, mercer, Mtsu (oops). And also the OB win does not count.

Who has seriously mentioned getting Tom Herman here? If we had a chance we probably wouldn't because, by gosh, he isn't a Tech Man!

But let us not judge CPJ on one game, but do judge Tom Herman for one game.

You love to cherrypick UM, VT, AND UGA. But PJ has performed extremely well against Clemson and FSU. 5-5 against Clemson and 3-2 against FSU. Show me another coach with records anywhere near that. We also beat owned UNC and Duke for years, they've just won the last 2.

You compared his performance to a major company... How many major companies would fire someone who had 4 average years, 3 fantastic ones, and 1 poor one?

Yada, yada,yada...there's an excuse for every game we lose. The bottom line is that we lose.

CPJ's record vs VT,Miami,UGA.....awful.....The new ACC is no joke, but trying to run an outdated offense at GT with academic challenges equals 6-7 win seasons......

I'm not ready to pull the plug on CPJ; but he ain't getting any younger. If it takes us 3-4 years to build a top twenty team, he is that much closer to retirement. I'm beginning to wonder if he has had the competitive spirit beaten out of him by GT. The problem that is GT, the Hill, the program, has to wear on any coach competing against the Clemson and UGAg type programs year after year. I also wonder if the decisive victory in the Orange Bowl didn't take away the challenge that his offense could work at this level.

This season can still be a success. UGAg is beatable again and picking up a win there plus a bowl game would get the fan base back on track.

The problem isn't the offensive scheme. It has been working for years, and it worked yesterday against Houston.

The problem is piss poor execution. So. many. missed. blocks.

And CPJ is responsible for Sewak and West. I agree the offensive scheme can work; but is the reason we can't get better coaching at the assistant level CPJ, GT, or both? Maybe we just lack leadership on offense. I don't know what the problem is but we missing something more than just physical talent from the 2014 team. We have physical talent, it just ain't clicking.

I think you were making a sound argument until the end there. How does Herman losing to an option team reflect on how good of a coach he is or how good CPJ is? It strengthens the notion that this is a gimmick offense that'll catch some teams off guard, which we did for a couple of years but otherwise no one seems to be off guard these days.

I pointed out the Houston loss to make the point that the triple option offense is still viable at the highest level of competition if run correctly. There are some who consider the 3O obsolete or gimmicky.
