Calvin Johnson WR 6-4, 215 Tyrone, Ga. (Sandy Creek)

The guys that will contribute from the class IMO will be
(most to least PT)

1. Calvin Johnson
2. Darryl Richard
3. Travis Chambers
4. David Brown
5a. Elris Anyaibe
5b. Gary Guyton
6. Eric Williams
7. Nate McManus
8. Kyle Belcher
9. James Johnson
10. Patrick Clark
11. Kieran Delaney
12. Mike Cox
13. Djay Jones

The guys I think will redishirt

1. A.J. Smith, Darrell Robertson...We are deep enough at the DE position. Robertson desperately needs to put on some weight. Once he does, he will be a huge contributor.

2. Kyle Manley...I think Kyle will be a good scout QB that will serve as a great backup through the years, but we need to redshirt because he could be very important down the road.

3. Jon Morrison...I think Morrison will have to work his way up the depth chart. He has decent size, but I thinking a redishirt.

4. Jacob Lanowski, Andrew Gardner...I think that if McManus in the mix, we will save these two guys by redshirting. Gardner needs to put on some weight.

5. Drew Gause...Gause is a very speedy RB who will contribute down the road, but we are very deep at RB.

6. Justin Guadagni...Dixon and ACE give us enough guys at the FB position. Mike Cox may even play a little here.

7. Jamal Lewis...We are very loaded at the CB position. Jamal will contribute down the road IMO.

Any thoughts?

Well written and thought out. I agree right down the line. I think the first 6 will be needed because I have to believe there will be some attrition. There almost always is.

I hope there are one or two good surprises from among the recruits we don't expect alot immediately.

Alot of our success will depend upon team chemistry and senior leadership, too.

None of us have seen any of them play, so take it all with a grain of salt, but...

I don't see how Cox would start over Gause if we move a freshman into RB. Maybe he could begin to learn the ropes as a FB, though. Maybe that's what you already envisioned.

Cox runs a 4.78. We have OL guys that run as well. I just don't see him at TB unless we are at the 1 and need to pound it in. Gause runs a 4.4 and is built like a steam roller (so is Cox).

Cox is built like Greg Jones from FSU, so he wil be a force in certain situations. I don't see burning a redshirt for a situational tailback, unless he blocks well enough to spell Jimmy D at fullback also.

Good post. I agree with the rest. It will be interesting to see.
