End to chain measurement?

Did CFB do away with measuring for a first down? It seems like if it’s close, they give the O the benefit of the doubt and it’s 1st and 10. I get that precise ball spotting with the fidelity of a chain link is hard (unless there’s a Clown on the sideline to help) but has CFB done away with it entirely?

They are focusing on spotting on a yard line when a first down is awarded, at change of possession and scrimmage plays past the line to gain, so you can precisely determine whether the line to gain has been obtained

I never agree to a measurement. Just take my word for it.
