I don't remember any bad calls from that game - only the non-calls from Duke twisting knees and ankles play after play.

Is that what you're referring to?
That was the frosting on the cake. Very few calls went our way that game and most of the calls against us were ticky tack. There was a reason the officials were booed as they left the field for halftime.

gespacho may have a link to the game somewhere. Watch it again and let me know what you think.

Wonder if the scumbag, pervert swofford will, again, escort them to the hearings?

Is that the lightning game? I think that is one of the only games I have ever left early, if so.

The only other game I remember leaving early was UCONN when Gailey was coach and that was because UCONN sucked, were beaten down, and it was wet and damn cold outside. Couldn't feel my feet when I got up to walk out of the stadium.

Yes! The lightening game. What do you remember about the officiating?

I remember booing and being hot and miserable and figuring someone had paid off the refs and that I just wanted to go home before I went to jail (this is a true story). It was a surreal game. It was almost like going to a spring game or something. Is that even us out there?
It was worse than Wake in 2002 and that was horrible. Wake ran 90+ offensive plays to our 50 offensive plays. Our leading rusher didn't even have 50 yards. It was a nightmare, but the Duke game was still worse because the refs helped them. Wake just death marched us before I even knew what a death march was.

Thanks for confirming my unpleasant memory.

I wonder how the non-athletes found out about the "unpublicized" classes and registered for them. Were they friends of the athletes or other minority students who were in academic trouble? Did the university recruit non-athletes for the classes to create an image of legitimacy? It would be interesting to interview some of those students to find out how they ended up in the classes, but I doubt the NCAA has any subpoena power to get access to them. I really don't expect the NCAA to take any action at this point, unless there is an incriminating paper trail, and it's doubtful that UNC would have been that careless. This is probably a "show trial" for the NCAA to save face.
The UNC writers seem to think they will get nailed pretty hard by the NCAA. My fingers are crossed

I'll believe it when I see it. I think the UNC women's basketball team will be the sacrificial lamb here. However, if by some crazy chance a few banners in the Smith Center come down I will love to see Ole Huckleberry's reaction.

But the much more concerning allegation is the nuclear bomb: Lack of Institutional Control. This is the worst charge that the NCAA can issue and in the past it has resulted in programs receiving the death penalty.
hasn't SMU been the only program that received the death penalty?

LIC is what nailed us for $200 worth of clothes.

if Penn State didn't get the death penalty for actively covering up a child rapist, no program will ever receive it
I don't anticipate anything near that but I do hope they lose some banners, scholarships and a postseason ban.

A Penn State fan would argue that raping children gave them no competitive or recruiting advantage so it should not be the business of the NCAA, but rather it is a criminal matter that should be handled by the police.

I say lack of institutional control.

That was a criminal case. Pretty much everyone involved is in jail or dead. No need to wreck the lives of countless people because of the sick actions or inaction of a few.
