I've seen pictures of the construction of the arch sewer before. Best I could find on google is this, though, which is after it was built and the field laid over it:

So that's looking North, with the west stands built up against the hill on the left.

Whole place was a floodplain. Only flat place on campus. Hence "the flats." Heisman conned all the students into building a brick arch sewer over the creek, and then stuck a football field over it.

Yes I believe that storm sewer goes under Peters Park, maybe under Rose Bowl field, and then past 14 St where, in about 1993, we had such bad rain that the storm sewers under the parking lot behind the hotel on 14 St next to 75/85 collapsed and swallowed a car or two.
