Good post. Watch for Big Cry logo to appear soon, however. There are still some who see no problem with the baseball team & actually believe the ship will be righted after 6 years of diminishing returns.

I had to chuckle when my brother said this weekend this was our worst baseball team since we wore batting helmets in the field. We remember, Coach Luck.

Right here. Nice victory over a non-ACC cupcake. Things definitely trending upward. Look for great victory over power house GA State as well.

It sure would be nice if one these good mid-week wins actually led to better weekend outcomes. That hasn't been the case at all this year.

Hall's tenure can't end soon enough. GT baseball has been trending down for years and 2017 looks to be the culmination of the crap-fest.

7-0 W vs Ga State last night. Solid effort at the plate from Schniederjans + GS from Poje helped us get the W. Only 3 hits for the Panthers.

Can we play just in-state opponents all season?

Can we play teams the caliber of Mercer and Ga State every game? The big boys eat öööö like us for breakfast.

Yes, it was Luck's last year. Coincidence? No. (I played for Luck in 79/80. He had basically checked out by then)

    Tech wins 13-3!

Apparently it was starting to rain in bottom of the ninth, so we'll find out if game 2 is really happening at 3 or not.

3 game winning streak. Really, really hope we can get the VT games in for the sake of making the tournament. They or Pitt dropping to 13th are our best chances to make the postseason.

Lost game two 8-4........Led 4-0 early and led 4-3 going to the bottom of the 8th. VT scored 5 times after two were out and no one on base.

Micah Carpenter came into the game in the bottom of the fourth and got the Jackets out of a jam with two runners on. The sophomore then pitched a scoreless fifth, sixth and seventh inning to keep the Yellow Jackets in front at 4-3 heading into the eighth.
    * Micah Carpenter threw a career-high 3.1 innings out of the bullpen in game two.

    * Micah Carpenter also tied his career-high with four strikeouts in the second game of the conference doubleheader.

Hall blew the game again by removing a hot Micah Carpenter from the mound. The next reliever immediately gives up five runs. Just like the Louisville game last Saturday, Hall never learns his lesson. Another bone head pitching change.

Ryan blew the save Sunday against Louisville and yesterday, but he's been the best guy out of the pen all year. Early on, he was lights out. Hall has overused him – though to be fair, it has been out of necessity – so I think the innings are finally catching up to him. As bad as GT is at 5-15, this team isn't unlike the last few years....if breaks had evened out this season, they'd be about 8-12 in ACC play right now.

That said, it's even more damaging, because if GT is to make the ACC Tourney, VT is one of the 2 likely candidates they'll pass to get into 12th place (the other is Pitt). Even with a series win later today, GT would still be 2 games out of the ACC Tournament with 9 to play I think. Lose today again and I'm not sure there is a route to the ACC Tournament beyond sweeping Pitt and winning 4 of 6 agains Duke and Virginia. Even that might not do it.

Crazy to be talking about routes to qualifying for a 12-team tournament in a 14-team league, but that's how far things have fallen at this point.

GT wins the game today 6-4, leading wire to wire, to take the series over VT. Tech's first ACC series win of the year...

This, in spite of yet another head scratching pitching move by Hall. With a hot Jake Lee pitching 4.2 scoreless innings of relief after the rain delay, he was pulled after the 7th. The next reliever had to be bailed out with a leaping catch by Murray to save a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th, and Coleman Poje had to make a diving, spectacular catch in right field to save an RBI triple in the 9th.
