BCS adds a fifth game to Championship bowl

I think they picked the worst of the

three options.

Of course the answer lies right here.

"The double-hosting model drew the support of the current BCS bowls, who were concerned they would host the championship only every five years, instead of every four."

Money. 'Nuff said.

Re: I think they picked the worst of the

The one I laugh at is the Rose Bowl. They love the BCS when it's kicking major bucks into their 'traditional' matchup of Big 10/11 vs. Pac 10. Then they cry their freakin' eyes out when they're forced to allow other teams to play there saying that we're somehow taking something away from the kids of the Big and Pac. Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth that comes the year they have to host back to back games that don't include either of those two conferences???

Also, did the luster come off the Rose Bowl when they agreed to take the Pac/Big conf. champs thus not allowing any other teams to play there? This is more of a pre-BCS question because I know the non's have played there since.
