CPJ has one year Wanted UT job

It is amazing how most on this board are so afraid of change, the mantra is muddle along and HOPE things improve. We dont stand to lose alot by replacing CPJ

Truth is, nobody knows how it would work out, but we should be realistic about the candidate pool we would be looking at. We'd likely look at former CPJ assistants like Ken N. and Monken, also maybe somebody like App State's Scott Satterfield (who I really like, actually). Kiffin doesn't strike me as a good fit, or even someone who is likely to come here, though I don't doubt some desperate school is going to throw a lot of money at him if he has another good year at FAU. Given our place on the totem pole, we will be looking at unproven guys at the P5 level, likely successful G5 coaches and we could strike gold or strike out. I am just not eager to move on from someone who has taken us to higher highs than anyone since Dodd, even though there are areas where he could definitely improve, which he seems to acknowledge. Of course, depending on the terms of his extension, all of this talk may be moot, anyway.

Your post pretty well sums up my feelings on CPJ. Didn't I read or hear that there was little-to-no chance of Niumatalolo coming here? I think it was more about him being happy at Navy (and only otherwise being interested in BYU) than anything else, but I only barely remember what was said about it.

At some point in time, CPJ needs to realize that motivating players is one of his job responsibilities. That and player development are my biggest gripes. You look at schools like Bama and Clemson bringing in psychologists to improve the team's motivation. That's where we are in the modern era. Brainwash our team into having a winning attitude, CPJ!!! Bring in a freaking hypnotist if you have to!!!

I can't handle talking football on stingtalk, I'll be the first to admit it.

I found my childhood bb gun a few weeks ago as well. It is now a nostalgic old piece of crap. I long ago shot the end of the barrel out of it and had to replace it with the brass out of a shotgun shell and a radiator clamp. The fore end has rotted away. It will cock and the safety and trigger mechanisms seem to work but it will not fire a BB.

There's a metaphor in there somewhere.

Folks, you gotta hand it to CPJ, he knows how to keep all the fans engaged in the off season. With the simple act of applying for the UT job, he has even given his haters something to do.

So join me in saying; "Well played sir, well played."

My sentiments too, no more TO that is part of the problem. However, Ken seems to get more out of it than our current HC

Not saying Ken or Monken would be hired, but I'd be surprised if they weren't contacted, along with coaches like App State's Satterfield and whatever other Sunbelt or C-USA standouts there are. I suppose we could look at some P5 assistants, too. But hey, I'm not even a CPJ hater and I'm throwing out legit, realistic names of possible replacements. Given that many of the CPJ haters weren't happy to see us hire App St's DC, how many of them would be happy if we hired their HC? Other than this weird Lane Kiffin fetish some people have developed all of a sudden, I'm just trying to understand what some of ya'll are looking for, besides "anything but CPJ" which isn't really a strong argument.

I like Paul Johnson. And I'm not going to get out my pitchfork one season removed from a nine-win season when we had a first-year starter. If we don't make a bowl game this year, I will most likely change my attitude.
