SEC speed is real. At lease the NFL thinks so.

I don't know why anyone is surprised that a conference where everyone's only goal in life is to get into the NFL produces the most NFL players.

Wasn't the ACC first in the recent past? I know Miami and FSU were responsible for much of that.

It is pretty sad that GT had zero. We can not afford to become completely irrelevant to kids with NFL talent. Do we have any legit NFL talent for next years draft?

Oh, that is suprising.

Found this in the comments section, got a lol:
Quote:
68 players from the SEC face massive pay cuts as they join the NFL.
So did the ACC end up with 7 schools that didn't produce a draft pick? I remember reading that somewhere yesterday. If the ACC did that and still came in second, that'd be nuts.

It hurt not having any guys drafted, but I think we are overdramatizing it a little bit. What would hurt more, IMO, is if the guys who signed FA contracts do not become visible or relevant on their perspective teams. I think a lot more attention is paid on what happenings on Sunday than Thursday-Saturday

It all comes down to talent at the end of the day. Those numbers in the draft tell you why the SEC has 7 BCS titles in a row. Those numbers tell you why the Tech-uga game went from 45-42 us to 42-10 them in five years. People have gotten caught up in the SEC mystique to the point where they say öööö like, "They just play a different brand of football in the SEC". No, they just have an assload of talent in the SEC, because they won for a few years, then attracted even more of the top talent, and now the cycle continually perpetuates itself.

It would be interesting to see an analysis that would demonstrate (as a hypothesis) that GT has won more games with fewer drafted players than anybody over the last four years. Drafted players would get points - (e.g., first round = 10, tenth round = 1, etc.) then total up the points and total up the wins. I'm guessing not many teams - if any - with fewer "draft points" than us have more wins.
