I think it is cute for kids, like Buzz for the kids. I like it.

Chief Osceola is not even played by an American Indian, it is just some white student dressed like an American Indian with makeup. So many double standards in this country.

I guess white kids can paint their face to look like American Indians (well we did slaughter them and take their land, thanks American Indians, here is your piece of ---- desert territory, have fun. But watch a white kid paint his face black and watch all hell break loose and Al Sharpton show up.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida has endorsed the usage of the chief for FSU. They are the only school to get an exemption from the NCAA ban on Indian mascots.


There are always tons of people upset at their usage in sports btw... not sure where you think there is a double standard.

As much as I HATE political correctness, I think this has nothing to do with that. It's just that it would take hours to get osceola painted up and horse ready. Renegade can't go to basketball, baseball, etc. Also, I think kids would get a lot less freaked out if a big fuzzy smiling mascot was nearby, than they would if a warrior that looked ready to scalp you was coming towards you. Sort of like the Rambling Reck and Buzz, the 2 mascots are a necessity. I sincerely hope that Osceola and Renegade never go away.
