That scenario didn't involve the loser of a semifinal game making the national title game. It involved the loser of the Rose Bowl (which is specifically called out as not being a part of the playoff/semifinal game) making the national title game, i.e. the Rose Bowl gets special treatment.

But yes, I agree the system is dumb.

So they want a Big Ten or PAC 10 team to possibly get a weaker semi-final opponent. That's just not right.

CCG round one, BCS with current affiliations are round two, then two more rounds and it is over. Teams like Georgia Southern play 15 or so games if they make the CG. They big boys could do 16 or drop one gimme.

I'd also be happy if they brought back ties (games and split champions)
