OSU was #2, ahead of 1-loss Bama, before they lost to Iowa State.

Standard lost to Oregon a couple weeks before that.

Boise lost to TCU a couple weeks before Standard lost.

1 loss Alabama is ahead of undefeated Stanford and undefeated Boise State and there were discussions that Alabama should have been #2.

gtphd, you realize that the regular season is 12 games, right? The issue isn't whether an undefeated GT would be ranked ahead of a 1 loss SEC team after week 11. The issue was whether an undefeated ACC champ would get passed over for a 1 loss SEC team for the MNC game.

FWIW, ElCid, remembered wrong too. Stanford and Boise St both lost in Week 12.

Also FWIW, Houston was still undefeated and ranked 11 in week 12. They moved-up to 8 in Week 13 and to 6 in Week 14. They fell-off to 19 when they lost the C-USA CG. Even this BCS nonAQ team may have made the MNC game if they had won their conference.

And that affects the voters, how?

It's pointless to continue this argument because we really don't know what will happen until it does. But if a 1-loss SEC team can be ranked ahead of 2 undefeated teams (a highly touted Boise State and a PAC-12 team) you have to at least admit that "an undefeated ACC team makes the MNC" is not a guarantee.

Houston was never in the discussion for the MNC. They were 6th going into the championship game. The biggest issue with them was whether the Sugar Bowl would take Houston or a non-WVU Big East champion (if that happened).

We'll have to agree to disagree here, I feel that it is close enough to call a guarantee

This. It is a way different issue with a non AQ with a way weaker schedule. See boise state.
