The most appropriate actions aren't suspensions, but hefty fines paid to a pool for players injured during the seasons that the bounties occured.

I would think if anybody had actually gotten seriously hurt when this stuff was happening that would have been a major lawsuit.

That probably is a driver for the suspensions. Somebody gets hurt a few years from now, if they could have gone back and said "Hey, you knew bounty-type stuff had gone on and you didn't do much about it...yada yada yada" that would be a lot of litigating. Now at least the league can say they reacted strongly when they did find out about it.

Did you not see the cheap shot on Kurt Warner that Hargove did? What about the blatent late hit on Farve in the NFCCG Those guys didn't know where the hell they were.
