Default For what it's worth (Jonathan Dwyer)

Sounds like Jon has gotten serious about getting in shape this year. Could be the fact that the Steelers drafted Rainey out of UF helped him to see the handwriting on the wall.

Sadly I heard a similar story from someone. The guy said something to the effect of "Normally I can tell when someone is a professional athlete, you know, they look the part. I never would've guessed it from Dwyer. He looked awful soft to be a professional football player."

We'll see though. I hope he does get it together as this is likely his last chance in Pittsburgh.

All of Blacksburg will burn save one man. Beamer will be left unharmed so he can fully witness the wanton destruction he has brought upon the land of the ball-less turkey.

No, the decision was made long before the draft. He's still real young, so if he spends July being really serious about fitness, he shouldn't have any problem come August. The Steelers like what he did when he was on the field, but they've also made clear that their concerned about his weight/fitness.

I have a feeling that someday JD is going to look like an offensive lineman when we honor him someday as a GT great at halftime.

rainey is a smallish scat-back type and was signed more to fill a different role that has been occupied by Mendenhall (rehabbing an ACL) and Antonio Brown. And he can contribute on special teams like kick-off and punt returns. now that Brown is a starting WR, they need another super-quick dude with no fear. Also he grew up living in Maurice Pouncey's home.
