we have seen our team grow in every area but defense.
By all accounts the offense has performed well enough for the team to be 9-1 and this after losing FRIDGE.
What is to be done?

ted roof may be a problem, i dont know, but i do know that if a coordinator isnt getting the job done, the head coach should step in. especially when the head coach is supposed to be a defensive specialist. i blame oleary.

Fridge came to the defense of Roof at his Galleria speech. Of course, as an opposing coach, he might be thrilled to face Roof every year.. Kind of like us and Jim Donnan. images/icons/grin.gif

Don't forget that O'Leary and a previous DC with the same results. I give the "blame edge" to Roof, but by the slimmest of margains.

but the talent has steadily improved on D side of ball. Our LB's were suppose to be the best in ACC.
Maybe it was just b/c D. Smith got hurt and then was playing at 60% from then on. B/c up until the end of the second quarter of clemson game D was playing well. Then D. Smith gets hurt and the wheels come off for rest of the season.

Also, don't forget that we lost Ather Brown near the beginning of the season as well. Key Fox played well in replacing him, but Ather was the starter for a reason. Our linebacking corps got really beat up this year for some reason. Wimbush has also been hampered for the last half of the season. I heard that he has been playing on a broken leg. That's pretty amazing if it is true...

My dog told me why GT lost... he said "Roof, Roof" images/icons/grin.gif
In all seriousness, I love Roof. Keep him. But not as a defensive coordinator. Make Roof a LB coach or similar. He's really been able to recruit. Personally, I like Carl Torbush as a DC, and I don't know why GO didn't go after him. Instead 'Bama gobbled him up in a hurry.

Ted's available, right? I'd love to have him back on staff. Who wants to bet he winds up as D or some such with Coach Curry at State?
Mr. Ted is the Mofo.

I actually think I know why Kyle may have bumped this thread and if I'm right then Kyle is:
1) Way behind on the times.
2) Too easily amused.
3) Trying to stir a pot for no reason.

Minnesota.
They had the last ranked defense in the country last year so they fired their DC and hired Ted. Where do you think their fired DC ended up?
UNC - as the......................DC!
Maybe they won't be so tough after all.
